The hammer screen is one of the most important components in a feed mill. It is responsible for breaking down the bulky material in the feed into smaller pieces. If the hammer screen is damaged, the feed may become clogged, which may cause the feed mill to shut down.

• Steel or iron sheets are punched thin to make the screen. The screen can be repaired by riveting or soldering if the damaged area is not large; otherwise, it should be replaced.

• Screen holes should be installed with the burr side facing inward, smooth side facing outward, and screen frame and screen piece should be tightly fitted. During installation of the ring sieve, the stubble should follow the direction of rotation to prevent materials from getting stuck.

The replacement and maintenance of the hammer screen needs to be carried out according to the following steps:

1. Turn off the crusher and empty the material.

2. Remove the hammer screen.

3. Check the wear of the hammer screen. If the wear is severe, a new hammer screen needs to be replaced. If the wear is not severe, it can be repaired.

4. If you need to replace the hammer screen, you need to choose a hammer screen with appropriate specifications. The specifications of the hammer screen should be selected according to the model of the crusher and the particle size of the crushed material.

5. Install a new hammer screen.

6. Turn on the crusher and perform a test run.

The maintenance of hammer screen mainly includes the following methods:

• Welding: If the wear of the hammer screen is not serious, it can be repaired by welding.

• Grinding: If the hammer screen is severely worn, it needs to be repaired by grinding.

• Replace the hammer head: If the hammer head of the hammer screen is severely worn, it needs to be replaced with a new hammer head.

Replacement and lubrication of bearings

Bearings are another important component in a feed mill. It is responsible for supporting and rotating the machinery in the feed mill.

After 300 hours of operation, the bearing of the pulverizer should be cleaned. The bearing seat should be filled up to 1/3 of its gap when new engine oil is added, but no more than 1/2 at most. In order to operate, the regular oil cup only needs to be tightened a little before it is used.

When the bearing of the pulverizer is seriously worn or damaged, it should be replaced in time, and attention should be paid to strengthening lubrication; if tapered roller bearings are used, their axial spacing should be maintained between 0.2-0.4 mm. The bearing cover can be adjusted if the paper pad causes discomfort.

The replacement steps of the pulverizer bearing:

1. Turn off the pulverizer and empty the pulverizer.

2. Remove the cover plate of the pulverizer.

3. Remove the bearing.

4. Check the wear of the bearings. If the wear is severe, new bearings need to be replaced. If the wear is not severe, it can be repaired.

5. If you need to replace the bearing, you need to choose the bearing with the appropriate specification. The specifications of the bearing should be selected according to the model of the pulverizer and the type of the bearing.

6. Install new bearings.

The replacement of hammers and claws

In the feed mill, the crushing claws and hammers are the most vulnerable parts, as well as the most important component that affects crushing quality and productivity. Wearing out crushing claws and hammers need to be replaced in time. Claw crushers require that the disc be removed before the claws can be replaced. In order to pull out the disc, first you must open the round nut lock on the back, then you must unscrew the round nut using a hook-shaped wrench, and then you must pull out the disc. When changing gears, it is important to pay attention to complete replacement in order to maintain the rotor's balance. The pulverizer should be tested for static balance after replacement to ensure it is stable. Make sure the nuts are tightened and the spring washers are not missed when assembling the claws. The weight difference of a single claw should not exceed 1.0-1.5 grams when changing teeth. Qualified parts should be selected.

Some of the hammers of the hammer mill are symmetrical. If a hammer's sharp corners are blunt, they can be used on the opposite side; if both corners of one end are worn, turn them around and use them. You must adjust all of the hammers simultaneously when turning the head or adjusting the angle. It should be noted that the weight difference between each group of hammers should not exceed 5 grams; once the shaft and hammer are installed, a static balance test should be carried out to ensure the rotor remains balanced and the unit does not vibrate. Additionally, the pin shaft for fixing the hammer and the round hole for installing the pin shaft will gradually wear out due to wear and tear. It should be repaired or replaced as soon as the diameter of the round hole decreases by 1mm from its original size.
