To reduce the pellet production cost for our customers and ensure the optimal efficiency of the ring die, Jinding Machinery, drawing upon years of production experience, has provided the following operational guidelines for using the ring die:
1. When using a new ring die for the first time, it must be used with a new roller shell. New and old rollers should not be mixed, and a flat ring die must be used with a corresponding flat roller shell to ensure the flatness of the ring die's working surface and balanced pressure.
2. During the first operation of the ring die, use a corresponding formula of granular feed (preferably the hot material at the feed port of the pelletizer, which has been conditioned, pressed, and with appropriate moisture for passage through the die holes). Add a small amount of oil, mix evenly, flush the ring die for about 10 minutes, and remove condensate water from steam. The material after conditioning should have no lumps or clumps before entering the pelletizing chamber. The feeding speed should be adjusted in an orderly manner from low to high, starting at 10% to 20% of the normal speed.
3. For subsequent uses of the ring die, flush the ring die with oil for one to two minutes before starting the machine, allowing the ring die to heat up before feeding for production. Use oily materials to fill the die holes when stopping the machine.
4. Do not overload the pelletizer.
5. Gap between the roller and the ring die: The roller rotates in the center of the working surface of the ring die. The edge of the roller should be embedded in the groove at the edge of the ring die's working surface. Adjust the gap between the roller and the die so that the working surface of the ring die can intermittently drive the roller. The theoretical gap is 0.1mm to 0.3mm. It should not be adjusted too tightly!
6. Ensure that the safety pin of the pelletizer plays a safe and effective role during use. The safety pin must break when foreign objects or iron blocks enter the ring die.
7. Regularly check the wear of the feeding scraper of the pelletizer. Replace it when necessary. Regularly inspect and adjust the angle of the feeding scraper to ensure uniform feeding in the ring die chamber, even wear on the working surface of the ring die, and ensure the capacity and service life of the ring die meet requirements.
8. Regularly check the wear of the cutting knife. Repair or replace it when the edge is not sharp or has nicks. Install and adjust the angle, direction, and orientation of the cutting knife correctly.
9. Regularly check whether the axial position of the roller and the working surface of the ring die is correct, with an error not exceeding 1.5mm. The roller should not run into the edge of the ring die. Otherwise, it will affect the capacity and service life of the ring die and even cause it to crack!
10. For units assembled in a clamp-like manner, ensure that the clamp's inclined surface tightens the ring die, and there is no contact point between the bottom of the clamp's inclined groove and the ring die and the transmission wheel. The gap between the ring die and the transmission wheel should be less than 0.3mm. Replace the lining when worn by 0.2mm. (When installing the ring die, use a dial gauge to measure the concentricity of the ring die, and the radial runout error should not exceed 0.30mm.)
11. For units assembled in a screw cone manner, regularly check the wear of the transmission wheel to ensure that the tapered surface of the transmission wheel tightens the ring die, and there is no contact point between the bottom plane of the transmission wheel and the end face of the ring die. When installing the ring die, use a dial gauge to measure the end face of the ring die. The axial swing error should not exceed 0.15mm (to ensure uniform tightening force, balanced operation, and consistent inner and outer die clearance).
12. Ensure that the iron remover in the pelletizing system works properly, and no steel balls or large iron blocks enter the pelletizing chamber, as this will cause the ring die to crack.
13. Regularly maintain and care for the ring die, including timely removal of iron blocks on the working surface, unblocked feeding holes, and extraction of broken screws from screw holes. During storage, keep the ring die in a dry, ventilated, and clean place. For long periods of disuse, fill the die holes with non-corrosive oil, and apply anti-rust oil to stored ring dies.
We at Jinding Machinery hope that these guidelines will help you achieve the best results with our ring dies and pelletizers.
